Pickerelweed pottery is run by Kerry Shea, teacher, scholar, hiker, paddler, potter who resides in Saranac Lake, NY and northern Vermont.
She works almost exclusively in porcelain for its creamy white color and sensuous texture. Pots are painted in black (or dark green) slip and then carved with images from the natural world to achieve a woodcut appearance. Because pots are carved freehand, no two will be identical .
Pots have clear exterior glaze and green celedon, turquoise, red celedon, blue celedon or clear interior and are fired in an electric kiln to cone 6.
